Last week, I participated in the yeah write speakeasy. I shared a fiction story about a girl’s first kiss using the writing prompt they provided.
I thought it might be fun to share my own first kiss this week.
Well, probably more funny than fun.
I’m sure I had received pecks on the lips before, but certainly nothing memorable or qualifying as a true first kiss. I was a late bloomer.
I was chatting on AOL one day in the living room, likely cursing the slow dial up. One of the cooks in the restaurant where I hostessed had been instant messaging me for a little while when he asked me if I wanted to go to the movies sometime. I nervously agreed and immediately signed off to call my best friend.
There was one problem. He had just had surgery on his shoulder from a baseball injury and was in one of those casts that keeps your arm at a right angle. He had his mom drop him off at my house and then we took my car to the theater. I had just gotten my drivers license and was driving a stick shift. It was a bumpy ride, but we made it.
While we waited in line for the tickets, we chatted and my nerves eased a bit. I went to pay for my own ticket and he used his casted arm to bump me away. So romantic. We then headed into the theater and had to sit on the aisle so that his arm wasn’t in the way of the person to his left.
I don’t remember what movie we saw and our memories weren’t any better that night, because after leaving the theater, we both forgot where we had parked. While we were wandering around the parking lot, he all of a sudden stopped and kissed me.
Yes, my first kiss was in the parking lot of the movie theater, while lost trying to find the car with a guy who only had the use of one arm.
My first kiss with my current boyfriend is a story for another day, but it certainly beat this one. And hopefully, he’ll be my last kiss too 🙂
Do you remember your first kiss?
Today was Day Eleven (or Day K) of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.
I also linked up with the Let’s Be Friends Blog Hop and I am making an attempt not to shame myself at the yeah write weekend moonshine grid.
Hoping you’ll follow me on Bloglovin or Twitter! New friends make me happy!
Aw, that’s a sweet story! Nothing wrong with an impromptu parking lot kiss! My first kiss, believe it or not, was with Ozzy Osbourne. I was fourteen and it was a sweet peck on the lips from the rocker during an autograph signing. I don’t think most people look at Ozzy and think ‘sweet’, but at the time, I was over the moon in love! I’m thinking he might be my “O” post. 🙂

He should totally be your “O” post- what a great story and a memorable first kiss!
Thanks – and yes, he is my post for tomorrow! Hee hee, I had so much fun writing about it after all these years. 🙂
My first kiss was summer going into 8th grade at my YMCA camp. I sneaked away from the last night of camp dance with my “boyfriend,” Mike. (Scandalous — he was TWO YEARS OLDER than me!) We went up to the basketball courts and smooched. He tried to cop a feel too and I put the kabash on that. When we got back to the dance, we found out our counselors had been looking all over for us and we were in BIG trouble!
You should see if you can find him on Facebook now 😉
I looked him up on MySpace or something a few years ago. He was soooo hot in 1993… not so much anymore!
haha! That’s a cute first kiss story! mine was after homecoming my freshmen year of high school.
Ooo la la- I skipped homecoming freshman year to watch lame movies with my best friend 🙂
My first kiss was pretty lame, but my first kiss with my current boyfriend is one for the books. Great post!
Happy A to Z blogging.

That is the one that matters now! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
First kiss was a blind date. Stupid. Later, real kisses were with my now husband. 🙂
Probably good you worked out the kinks before meeting your husband 🙂
My first kiss (real kiss, not just a peck) happened when I was a sophomore in high school. I had a big crush on a boy in the junior class. His name was Greg Morrison. We used to hang out in the gym after school, and then he would walk me down the street to the paper mill parking lot where I would wait for my Dad to get out of work so I could ride home with him. We shared lots of kisses in that parking lot! I was sure I was in love!
I just stopped by from SITS to say hello; hope you find time to do the same.
Love new SITS friends 🙂
Sounds like this Greg was quite the stud. Hopefully your dad never happened upon you two in the parking lot!
That’s actually kind of cute, I bet it took a lot of courage for him to do that 🙂
I am sure it did. Oh high school….
Awwww so sweet. I don’t really remember my first kiss, which says something about the boy I am sure 🙂
Totally says something about the boy 😉
I was also gonna write Kiss on K…. but still figuring out what all to write…. 🙂 And your first kiss sounded cute…. he must took so much of courage to just kiss then and there.

Ohh you better get it done! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
“I went to pay for my own ticket and he used his casted arm to bump me away. So romantic.”
Hahaha!
I’m reserving my first kiss for my husband 🙂
Lucky guy!
LOL I love the arm bump!! Great first kiss. My first kiss must not have been very memorable because I truly don’t remember. Hummmm
Thank you for stopping by my blog!
Peanut Butter and Whine
Maybe it’ll come to you! Thank YOU for stopping by also 🙂
Huh. I don’t! I don’t remember my first kiss. At least not my real first kiss. Me and my friend used to count to 100 while we smooshed lips with our friend Doug. It was more prolonged lip blotting than kissing.
Sounds like Doug got around. Wonder where he is now?
I totally remember! I was 15 and on my first date ever, and I was so nervous the whole time because I knew (or hoped) it was coming! It wasn’t great, but once I got the first one over with I enjoyed the subsequent ones much more 🙂
Just like ripping off a bandaid 🙂
What a fun story. Amazing how awkward we all seemed to have felt over our first kisses. 🙂
So awkward! Hopefully we’ve grown out of it now 🙂
Aw that’s sweet! Now I’m curious about the first kiss with your current boyfriend!
I’ll have to fill you in someday 🙂
Great story! I love the cast-bump!
Thanks for coming by, Louise!
Ah first kisses…
Mine wasn’t remotely romantic and was during a game of spin the bottle!
A sweet memory though.
I never played spin the bottle! I feel neglected of a childhood memory 😦
That’s a cute story!
Thanks!
Isn’t that how many horror movies start? A distracted couple in an empty parking lot?
But hey, at least it made for a memorable story!
It kind of felt like a horror story…. 😉
First kisses always seem to be terrible! I did enjoy your story and the cast bump was funny. Chivalry is not dead!
😛
So terrible! Thanks for stopping by!
Aw, first kisses can be so sweet…or so awkward, like mine was. I remember it being way too slobbery and uncomfortable…
Mine definitely fell in the awkward category too 🙂
That was so sweet!
That’s a sweet first kiss story! Mine was awkward and gross and all about the tongue he insisted on trying to use. Bleh! I’m amazed I ever let anyone else try, after that!
Gross! Mine wasn’t going to win any awards either!
Mine was HORRID but at least I got it over with and could say I had my first official kiss. Sounds like yours was very sweet. And you are lots younger than me since you wrote of AOL and first kiss in the same paragraph. With mine I think it was the telegraph.
You’ve had more time then to perfect the kiss!
I was so nervous, (I too was a late bloomer, Sweet 16 and never been kissed!) and accidently bit my boyfriend the first time we kissed. Nearly 30 years later and we are still friends, maybe I left an impression on him!
Haha an impression in more ways than one- love it!
