Sunday sipping at the airport bar

5 May

It’s Sunday! I am in the airport in Charleston after an amazing, but too short weekend. I’m linking up with Neely and Ashley for Sunday Social and then heading to the airport bar for some final vacation libations before it is back to reality. Since today the Sunday Social is all about the number four, I might just have to have four drinks for good luck!

4 favorite things to do on a weekend

Weekends are my favorite part of the week. You too? Crazy! They tend to either be extremely busy or extremely lazy. I need a mix of the two. When they are busy it is usually because I am traveling or attending some sports event or concert (favorite things one and two). When they are lazy I can usually be found snuggled up on the couch cleaning out my DVR or having a long dinner with plenty of wine (favorite things three and four).

4 favorite things about your best friend

You all got to hear the story of how I met my best friend. She is so special because she is one of the only people I can truly be myself around and sometimes I think she can even read my mind. She and I will drop anything to be there for the other and we can have fun doing anything from a big night out to playing Scrabble in our pajamas.

4 things you would do with $100,000

If I had $100,000, I’d put half in the bank and use the other half to pay off my debts, put a hefty down payment on a condo, hand some over to my family and take everyone I love on vacation. It really isn’t that much money when I think about it that way. The bank might get less than half!

4 favorite books you’ve ever read

There is no way I could pick just four favorites. I’ll recommend four recent reads instead: The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult, Defending Jacob by William Landay, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and for old time’s sake Summer Sisters by Judy Blume.

4 favorite snack foods

I love Cape Cod Potato Chips, especially the Jalapeño flavor. Potato skins and mozzarella sticks make me happy. And once I eat one clementine I have a hard time stopping- those big bags go fast!

4 things that you must do daily

Every morning, I wake up and make my bed. I hate coming home and having my room a mess and feel like a made bed makes a difference. I always put on my watch and the ring I got for Christmas- feel naked without those two things. I usually crack open a Diet Coke for breakfast (so bad, I know!!). And, of course, check all my E-mails, Gchat, etc. I would have a hard time with a screen-free day!

So honored to have been called out by Jess at Blogging on the Brink in her A-Z reflections post. Seriously flattered! Check out her great blog! I learned so much about music and the industry reading her posts.

Thanks to Jules at A Dose of Jules for calling me out in her reflections post. This lovely lady managed to write a poem for every day of the challenge. I’m not kidding. AND they were great poems. She is talented!

Also, a big thanks to Creative Mysteries for my latest Liebster Award!

Sox on Saturday leads to a sleepy Sunday

28 Apr

Yesterday was my sister’s birthday. She LOVES the Red Sox so we celebrated by going to a game. I admit I left early AND I am still tired today. I’m so ashamed of myself- my age is catching up to me. In my defense, I had much better luck getting a taxi home in the fifth inning than I would have after the ninth! I know, I know. It’s still pathetic.

Happy Birthday "little" sister!

Happy Birthday “little” sister!

Despite my exaggerated exhaustion, I’m linking up with Neely and Ashley for Sunday Social. This week their questions all revolve around childhood.

1. Did you sleepwalk as a child? Nope.

2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house? I once hid under our back deck, but I don’t think it lasted long enough for anyone to notice I was gone!

3. Did you have any imaginary friends? No, but I’d role play being a teacher all the time. I had a whole classroom set up in our basement.

4. Did you ever go toilet papering? Nope. I was a good kid!

5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren’t allowed to watch? I used to be jealous when my older cousin slept over and got to stay up to watch Saturday Night Live. I would sneak down and watch with him. I also used to stay up late reading when I should have been sleeping. I hid a flashlight under my pillow.

Apparently, I was a fairly boring child. Lucky for my parents! What were you like as a kid?

Happy Easter- from my couch to yours!

31 Mar

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter. I am sitting at home plugging away on my new MacBook Air, which we finally got. I am loving it so far although never owning a Mac has allowed for a slight learning curve.

We woke up bright and early this morning and headed to Mass with my boyfriend’s sisters. I really enjoyed the church we went to- I felt the sense of community from the moment we walked through the door. I wish I could find a place like that closer to where I live. We then spent the day at his mom’s house. I am finally feeling a bit more like myself, although I was teased all day about my nose being rubbed completely raw. Ouch!

So, as I said, I am now here on my own, lounging on my couch in a big comfy T-shirt, watching TV shows from my DVR and just relaxing. Really exciting way to spend my last night in my 20s, but  I am happy so who cares!

Here are this week’s Sunday Social questions-

  1. Favorite type of work out to do? I like doing hot yoga, but it takes some doing to motivate myself to get my butt to a studio. It’s also not cheap! My favorite “work out” is just calling up a friend and having her meet me for a walk- when the weather is nicer of course. It’s almost that time of year!
  2. Favorite guilty pleasure candy or sweet? Currently I have Girl Scout cookies in my freezer, so that is about all I can think of on the spot. They are calling my name…
  3. What is one thing you continuously forget to do?  I always forget to pick up prescriptions so I am stuck running to get them the day I take the last of the prior month. Or maybe I am just too lazy to walk to the pharmacy until it is absolutely necessary!
  4. Posts its or phone reminders? Why? I usually don’t use either, although I totally rely on an old-fashioned wall calendar for my social agenda.
  5. Favorite picture currently on your phone that always makes you smile? The latest photo making me smile is one my friend sent of her puppy telling me to”Feel better.” He is my honorary nephew!

Don’t forget, tomorrow kicks off the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge!

Well, I’m hooked- Happy Sunday!

24 Mar

Happy Sunday!

I’ve decided to link up on the Sunday Social. It’s been fun being new to this and realizing what a community blogging has become. And to be honest, it is very addicting!

This week’s questions were about spring- Boston didn’t get the memo that spring had sprung. There is still snow on the ground (dirty snow now- the worst) and I’m still bundling up in my winter coat (it resembles a sleeping bag). I moved back from Florida last winter and joked that people could thank me for the easy weather. I guess this neverending winter is a message.

On to the questions!

1. What is your favorite thing about spring?
I love being able to be outside after being stuck inside all winter. Boston seems to come alive in the spring- there are flowers everywhere. I love being able to have brunch on a Sunday outside while I people watch.
2. What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
I love bright flowers. Nothing makes a room more welcoming than flowers.
3. What is your favorite nail polish color?
I’ve gotten hooked on the shellac manicure. It lasts so long! Despite it still being gloomy here, I transitioned to spring colors earlier this year. I’m currently sporting hot pink- why not?!
4. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I’m not exactly what you’d call “active.” My favorite outdoor activity is probably reading on the beach. Or eating outside. So sporty I know.
5. Do you have any fun spring plans? Details! 🙂
Weddings in Charleston and St. John! Can not wait to get away!! I am also hoping for a weekend getaway in mid-April. We’ll see…
