You won’t want to miss this

14 May
I was going to save this announcement for last, but frankly I’m not sure if you all actually read my entire posts, so I want to make sure my biggest announcement is right at the top. Julie at Fabulous Blogging has been helping me upgrade my blog. Yep, very, very soon (like VERY soon) I will be found at http://anothercleanslate.com. In fact, consider this my plea to please, please, please head there now and subscribe to the feed (top right where you can input your E-mail). Feel free to add that to a tally of favors I owe you 🙂
Now, for some other news…
Dog Hair Is An Accessory

Adriana at Dog Hair is an Accessory, Carly at The Pinot Project and I are linking up!

The truth comes out when you are no longer putting your best foot forward. Some say it’s getting too comfortable, some say it’s letting yourself go. What things do you or your significant other do behind closed doors now that you have reached that next stage? Don’t let living solo stop you from sharing.  Spill the dirt on an ex or yourself!  Come air your dirty laundry with us on May 29th!

If you aren’t going to link up or don’t blog, comment and let me know what your dirty laundry is- I’ll spill it for you- anonymously if that’s what you prefer!

Also, you may have noticed a new page up there at the top of my blog.

I know you wanna know- why did I start blogging

7 May

I know you have all been dying to know why I started blogging. I shared a little bit in Another Clean Slate’s first post, however I thought I’d delve deeper into the topic.

Believe it or not, next week it will have been two months since I started this little adventure. I was already lurking on other blogs and I suppose I just needed a push to get my own site started. That push was actually several days/weeks/months of feeling kind of totally in a rut. I was not very happy, even though I had every reason to be happy. I was bored with work. My boyfriend started a new job and was engrossed in that. Family issues prevailed (remember my dad’s girlfriend?). My local good friends’ lives all got a lot busier. My head was spinning more than usual. Basically, I needed something new to distract me. This feeling isn’t new to me, but this time it was worse than usual.

Enter Another Clean Slate.

I’ve actually started a couple of other blogs in the past but only shared them with a handful of people. It only took a couple of weeks each time before I deactivated and deleted them. But the people I shared posts with would ask me for more. I have a lot of friends all over the place and I suppose this is a good way to keep in touch (they need to start their own blogs so I can do the same!). This time I have tried to resist the urge to deactivate and delete. Trust me, I’ve backed slowly away from the computer on more than one occasion. And my best friend has convinced me to keep this going- at least for the time being.

It’s not a very interesting story, but now you know. I was feeling blue and needed an upper. Wine wasn’t helping. Wait, booze isn’t an upper anyways, right?

Thanks for the distractions, friends!

So, why did you start?

Y’all come back now, ya hear!

29 Apr

Tomorrow is the last day of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. It is crazy to think that I might actually make it through this thing- and let’s face it, if I don’t figure out a post for tomorrow for the VERY LAST DAY then I am useless and shouldn’t be allowed to communicate any ways.

Some of you might be glad it is ending. You visit my blog because you like me and don’t particularly care for alphabetically themed posts although I did try to steer clear of making them too nursery bookish. My OWN MOTHER told me that my blog posts unrelated to the challenge are much better than the ones I wrote for the gosh darn thing. She is lucky I know she thinks I am her most talented child, otherwise my feelings might have been hurt.

Others might only have been coming to this blog because of the challenge. To you I say, please don’t go! I have a very fragile ego and would love for you to keep visiting my blog, because I sure hope to do the same.

However, it’s been a real treat getting involved in this whole blogging thing. It’s now been a week shy of two months that I’ve been sharing my life with the ENTIRE WORLD. The folks I’ve “met” through the challenge itself, blog hops and who the heck knows how, have made my days a million times better. It is so fun getting to know and letting you all into a little part of my life.

So this is a thank you for following me thus far and being patient with my learning curve both in the challenge and with blogging itself. Don’t expect me to improve much more anytime soon, though. I’m still new to this after all.

Today was Day Twenty Five (or Day Y) of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.

Hoping you’ll follow me on Bloglovin or Twitter! New friends make me happy! I also recently created a profile with Canopi, so you can check me out there if that’s what you use! If you don’t use any of these things, you can always follow by entering your E-mail where it says “Follow” up there in the top right. Basically, I am giving you no way to avoid me.

Inspiring Blogger… who me?!

19 Apr

The lovely lady at Things That Happen Everyday has honored me with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. It sounds so impressive, right?

The rules are as follows:

1. Display award logo on blog.
2. Link back to the person who gave you the award.
3. State 7 things about yourself. Getting to that…
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link back to them. Easy enough!

Seven Things About Another Clean Slate

  • I grew up being called Katie, but at some point started going by Kate because it sounded more professional. I can tell what phase of life people know me from or how close they are to me based on what they call me.
  • I still sleep with the teddy bear my dad gave me when I was first born in the hospital. His name is Teddy. Very fitting, I think.
  • I got glasses when I was three years old and was allowed to get contacts when I turned 13. I considered it the best gift ever at the time and don’t understand people who wear fashion glasses by choice now.
  • You all know my first gig was babysitting, but my first real job was working in a fish market that one of the family’s owned. It was a smelly first job.
  • I have a younger sister and a younger brother. We would all do anything for each other, but definitely still have our sibling moments.
  • I played soccer as a kid, but eventually I quit because the coach required me to take out my earrings. I obviously loved the sport.
  • My mom is one of my best friends. There are many times I would have been completely lost without her- and not in the “I’m just saying this to be nice” way, but in the totally serious way.

And the nominees are…

I know the bigger blogs don’t usually participate in these types of things and some of my  fave new blogging friends belong to those, so please feel free to snatch this award for yourself if you want- you know who you are!

ALSO, if you haven’t heard the news, two of my blogging mentors My Life as Lucille and Something Clever 2.0 convinced me I need a Facebook page, so go check it out 🙂 (Update: I’ve hidden this page for now- still trying to figure it all out!).

And thank you for the two new Liebsters I received from Reflex Reflections and Just Another Blog. Make sure you check these great blogs out! Also check out my other Liebster Award mentions (see 1-2 here , 3-6 here and 7 here). Appears I have a lot of catching up to do responding to these awards.
