Versatile Blogger Award

14 May

I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Melissa at Freeing Imperfections! Yay! Thank you!! Can you believe it was two months ago today I started this blog?

tumblr_inline_mlpvi1INji1qz4rgp

The details are pretty simple:

1. Add The Versatile Blogger award photo on a blog post. Done

2. Thank the person who presented you with the award and link back to him or her in your post. Done

3. Share seven things about yourself. Getting to it!

4. Pass the award along to 15 other¬†bloggers. Contact the chosen bloggers to let them know about the award. I don’t know why I have such a hard time with this- it is too hard to narrow it down!

Randomness:

  • I sometimes think I will quit my job and become an elementary school teacher. Unfortunately, I have to pay my bills in the meantime.¬†
  • My mom and dad call me Gertrude when I am being bratty or grumpy. I don’t know how this started!
  • My group of best friends from home and I call ourselves the “goats.” This is a whole other post in itself. You know I love my inside jokes!
  • I used to be afraid of the movie ET. I was scared he would stretch his neck up and get me on the top bunk of my bunk bed.
  • I sigh in my sleep. Apparently it can be a little awkward.
  • I still sleep with the teddy bear my dad gave me in the hospital when I was born. So mature.
  • I never had braces but always wanted them. I was so jealous of kids who got to change the color of their bands depending on the season.

Handing it over to:

Okay, I started getting frustrated because I realized the list was getting to the 15 blog limit and I still had more I wanted to include, so I gave up and updated my Let’s Be Friends page instead. If you’re not listed¬†it doesn’t mean I didn’t want you to be on here. It just means I got annoyed and threw up my hands with the whole thing…so just remind me please!

Bottom line, please take the award and run with it.

And please go “like” my new¬†Facebook¬†page! It would make me SO VERY happy!

I know you wanna know- why did I start blogging

7 May

I know you have all been dying to know why I started blogging. I shared a little bit in Another Clean Slate’s first post, however I thought I’d¬†delve deeper into the topic.

Believe it or not, next week it will have been two months since I started this little adventure. I was already lurking on other blogs and I suppose I just needed a push to get my own site started. That push was actually several days/weeks/months of feeling kind of totally¬†in a rut. I was not very happy, even though I had every reason to be happy. I was bored with work. My boyfriend started a new job and was engrossed in that.¬†Family issues prevailed (remember my dad’s girlfriend?). My local good friends’ lives all got a lot busier. My head was spinning more than usual. Basically,¬†I needed something new to distract me. This feeling isn’t new to me, but this time it was worse than usual.

Enter Another Clean Slate.

I’ve actually started a couple of other blogs in the past but only shared them with a handful of people. It only took a couple of weeks each time before I deactivated and deleted them. But the people I shared posts with would ask me for more. I have a lot of friends all over the place and I suppose this is a good way to keep in touch (they need to start their own blogs so I can do the same!). This time I have tried to resist the urge to deactivate and delete. Trust me, I’ve backed slowly away from the computer on more than one occasion. And my best friend has convinced me to keep this going- at least for the time being.

It’s not a very interesting story, but now you know. I was feeling blue and needed an upper. Wine wasn’t helping. Wait, booze isn’t an upper anyways, right?

Thanks for the distractions, friends!

So, why did you start?

Sunshine Award

29 Apr

The Sunshine Award

Creative Mysteries nominated me for the Sunshine Award. What an honor!

The rules for the Sunshine Award are as follows:

    1. Post the Sunshine Award logo. Done
    2. Accept the nomination and link back to the nominator. Done
    3. Answer the questions.¬†I can do that…¬†
    4. Nominate ten other blogs and inform them of the nomination. New policy in place!

Questions and Answers:

  • My favorite color:¬†Yellow
  • My favorite animal:¬†I’m not a big animal person. I love pets of people I love- and even then I get a little anxious if they drool on me or try eating off my plate.
  • My favorite number:¬†1,278 (might as well be as I don’t really have a favorite)
  • My favorite non-alcoholic beverage: Diet Coke
  • My favorite alcoholic beverage:¬†Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec or Vodka
  • Facebook or Twitter:¬†Facebook. I’m still fairly new to Twitter¬†
  • My passions:¬†Conveniently, I wrote about this last week- everything! I do love (in no particular order)¬†the Florida Gators, reading, being in the sun and my family and friends.
  • Giving or receiving gifts:¬†I love giving gifts! That’s why I love the Cara Box swap.
  • Favorite city:¬†Boston- my home!
  • Favorite TV shows:¬†I am a DVR addict- currently hooked on The Following, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Vampire Diaries, The Good Wife and lots of ABC Family/CW shows

My Nominations:

I struggled with this list, because there are so many blogs I follow and so many bloggers who have been helping me out! I am going to adopt the policy of Mama Bear Musings and let this be a free for all nomination. If you want it, take it! I need to spend some time coming up with my “must read” blogs to share with you all!

Y’all come back now, ya hear!

29 Apr

Tomorrow is the last day of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. It is crazy to think that I might actually make it through this thing- and let’s face it, if I don’t figure out a post for tomorrow for the VERY LAST DAY then I am useless and shouldn’t be allowed to communicate any ways.

Some of you might be glad it is ending. You visit my blog because you like me and don’t particularly care for alphabetically themed posts although I did try to steer clear of making them too nursery bookish. My OWN MOTHER told me that my blog posts unrelated to the challenge are much better than the ones I wrote for the gosh darn thing. She is lucky I know she thinks I am her most talented child, otherwise my feelings might have been hurt.

Others might only have been coming to this blog because of¬†the challenge. To you I say, please don’t go! I have a very fragile ego and would love for you to keep visiting my blog, because I sure hope to do the same.

However, it’s been a real treat getting involved in this whole blogging thing. It’s now been¬†a week shy of two months that I’ve been sharing my life with the ENTIRE WORLD.¬†The folks I’ve “met” through the challenge itself, blog hops and who the heck knows how, have made my days a million times better. It is so fun getting to know and letting you all into a little part of my life.

So this is a thank you for following me thus far and being patient with my learning curve both in the challenge and with blogging itself.¬†Don’t expect me to improve much more anytime soon, though. I’m still new to this after all.

Hamptons

Today was Day Twenty Five (or Day Y) of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.

Hoping you‚Äôll follow me on¬†Bloglovin¬†or¬†Twitter! New friends make me happy!¬†I also recently created a profile with¬†Canopi, so you can check me out there if that’s what you use! If you don‚Äôt use any of these things, you can always follow by entering your E-mail where it says ‚ÄúFollow‚ÄĚ up there in the top right. Basically, I am giving you no way to avoid me.
