Sunday sipping at the airport bar

5 May

It’s Sunday! I am in the airport in Charleston after an amazing, but too short weekend. I’m linking up with Neely and Ashley for Sunday Social and then heading to the airport bar for some final vacation libations before it is back to reality. Since today the Sunday Social is all about the number four, I might just have to have four drinks for good luck!

4 favorite things to do on a weekend

Weekends are my favorite part of the week. You too? Crazy! They tend to either be extremely busy or extremely lazy. I need a mix of the two. When they are busy it is usually because I am traveling or attending some sports event or concert (favorite things one and two). When they are lazy I can usually be found snuggled up on the couch cleaning out my DVR or having a long dinner with plenty of wine (favorite things three and four).

4 favorite things about your best friend

You all got to hear the story of how I met my best friend. She is so special because she is one of the only people I can truly be myself around and sometimes I think she can even read my mind. She and I will drop anything to be there for the other and we can have fun doing anything from a big night out to playing Scrabble in our pajamas.

4 things you would do with $100,000

If I had $100,000, I’d put half in the bank and use the other half to pay off my debts, put a hefty down payment on a condo, hand some over to my family and take everyone I love on vacation. It really isn’t that much money when I think about it that way. The bank might get less than half!

4 favorite books you’ve ever read

There is no way I could pick just four favorites. I’ll recommend four recent reads instead: The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult, Defending Jacob by William Landay, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and for old time’s sake Summer Sisters by Judy Blume.

4 favorite snack foods

I love Cape Cod Potato Chips, especially the Jalapeño flavor. Potato skins and mozzarella sticks make me happy. And once I eat one clementine I have a hard time stopping- those big bags go fast!

4 things that you must do daily

Every morning, I wake up and make my bed. I hate coming home and having my room a mess and feel like a made bed makes a difference. I always put on my watch and the ring I got for Christmas- feel naked without those two things. I usually crack open a Diet Coke for breakfast (so bad, I know!!). And, of course, check all my E-mails, Gchat, etc. I would have a hard time with a screen-free day!

So honored to have been called out by Jess at Blogging on the Brink in her A-Z reflections post. Seriously flattered! Check out her great blog! I learned so much about music and the industry reading her posts.

Thanks to Jules at A Dose of Jules for calling me out in her reflections post. This lovely lady managed to write a poem for every day of the challenge. I’m not kidding. AND they were great poems. She is talented!

Also, a big thanks to Creative Mysteries for my latest Liebster Award!

How funny, I was just writing a scene for my WIP that involves an airport lounge, when your post popped up! 4 drinks sounds good and celebratory.

Thanks for the shout-out…just an FYI, the A to Z Blog wants me to guest-blog my reflections post there in June, so you’ll be getting a mention again. 🙂

    Enjoy your Sunday!

Your weekends sound perfect! I,too, love to read and I adore my best friend–and, coincidentally, we both read Summer Sisters and loved it. What a sweet post–and an inspiring one. I think I’ll have to work on a post about my best friend that I’ve been thinking about doing. Thanks for the inspiration!

That’s a lot of things you want to do with $100,000.

    Diet coke for breakfast? Yikes!

Hi Kate! Came over from Kim’s blog naming you as one of her favs in this blog world. Looking forward to seeing firsthand what that’s all about.

Hope you enjoyed your vacay! Getting windfalls are fun & they inspire us to want to include everyone! You were stretching 100K girl! I would include a family/friend vacay as well. They are so fun & most families don’t have an entire family financially equipped to really enjoy vacations. Nice to meet you lady!

I love getting to know you better!!! You just made me hungry for Potato Skins and Mozzarella sticks!!!! We had potato Skins at Texas Road House last week and they were amazing.

We must be twins because that comment about making your bed is so me. I have to have my room perfect before anything else can happen. If my room looks clean, then my mind feels better. I dont know what it is but stuff everywhere in a room makes me antsy. You should see how freaked I get when my room is perfect and when I get home my fiance has made a mess. its not pretty

Ooh I forgot about Summer Sisters! It’s been so long since I’ve read that! It’s definitely on my reading list for this summer now!

Gone Girl is such a great book also. Can’t believe I forgot about that one.

You had me at your BFF but then you sweeten the deal with Judy Blume and diet coke? And to seal the deal you are drinking before flying?
Is there any wonder why your blog is a must read?

  14. Katia May 5, 2013 at 10:32 pm #

I’ve never heard of any of those books, I’ll have to check them out.

It’s good to get to know you a little better. You’re my new hero with the made up bed. I’d love to do that some day! 🙂

I admit- sometimes (like today) the bed making is a bit sloppy, but it is done!

Love this 4 Things things…it is so much fun! Isn’t it crazy when you realize that $100,000 isn’t really as much money as you think…as a kid that would have been like a million when in reality it goes pretty fast!-The Dose Girls

Ha yah- the more I thought about it, the more I realized how it wasn’t going very far. Maybe the family vacation would have to be camping!

  16. Elisa May 6, 2013 at 11:18 am #

awww love you! PS….I’m reading Defending Jacob now!!!! thanks for the recommendation 🙂

Awesome shoutouts girl! I WISH I wanted a clean room more than I liked to sleep in and being too lazy. Someday, maybe. Oh yes, Jalapeno chips…yum.

k girlfriend I’ve been horrible about keeping up with reading blogs lately but I’m finally caught up with yours!!

I’m with you on all the snacks definitely. And same with the 100k. I’d probably also hire a full time dog trainer!

I love hearing what you have to say! Give it to me...
